Commission on Elections Chair Sixto Brillantes says he may recommend moving the barangay elections to October next year or January 2015.
Brillantes explains that such a move will give the poll body more time to address issues stemming from the recently-concluded mid-term elections.
Brillantes said: "I would rather concentrate and prepare the 2016 [elections] ... Make recommendations now," adding that a prospective new date for the barangay elections could be either October 2013 or January 2014.
This, he explained, would give Comelec time to dispose of residual concerns related to the 2013 mid-term election, and still allow for sufficient preparation time for 2016.
