LTO: Car stickers to be delayed

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) says there may be further delays in the issuance of car plate stickers, as the supplier, GJB Enterprises, failed to meet its deadline last Friday, April 12.

GJB had requested LTO to extend its deadline to May 12, claiming it has been encountering problems with its workforce and in the allocation of resources.

The company explains that the production of stickers has been delayed because it did not promptly receive an order from the LTO to print three-year tag stickers.

The LTO chief, Assistant Transportation Secretary Virginia Torres, says that the agency, upon approval of the Department of Transportation and Communications, will rescind the contract with GJB and conduct an emergency purchase.

GJB will also be asked to pay for liquidation damages and penalties.
