Seven members of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force were killed in an ambush in Allacapan, Cagayan province earlier Monday.
Seven others were injured in the attack allegedly perpetrated by elements of the New People's Army.
The policemen were on their way to Cagayan Provincial Police Office to undergo physical fitness examination when they were ambushed.
Chief Supt Generoso Cerbo, PNP Spokesman, said a land mine exploded and hit the cops' vehicle.
As of posting time, authorities are still identifying the victims.
The Philippine Army and Cagayan Provincial Police have launched pursuit operation.
