Filipino racer shot dead in Quezon City

Filipino car racing champ Enzo Pastor was shot by an unidentified assailant at the intersection of Congressional Avenue and Visayas Avenue in Quezon City on Thursday evening.

Pastor was driving an Isuzu Elf, accompanied by his assistant Paolo Salazar.

According to an initial report, they were at a full stop at the junction when the assailant fired at them.

Pastor sustained several gunshot wounds while his helper was wounded in the left abdomen.

Pastor and Salazar were on their way to a racing circuit in Clark Field in Angeles, Pampanga to park the car that will be used for the competition.

Meanwhile, investigation is still underway as to the motive of his killing.

Investigators at the Quezon City Police District ruled out carjacking or mistaken identity as the motive in the killing. They are eying the possibility that it was a profession-related killing.

Pastor competed in the Asian V8 Championship series.

Just last Saturday (June 7), he was declared champion in a V8 race in Batangas. - Solar Online News with a report from Miguel Ortilla
