National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents arrested on Wednesday afternoon three men suspected of being members of the Ozamis robbery group in Sitio Samakata, Barangay Bagong Nayon in Antipolo.
The suspects were identified as Jacinto Pelisco, Rommel Pagatpat, and Rogelio Inopiquez.
The agents said they were supposed to serve a search warrant issued by Manila Regional Court Branch 22 Presiding Judge Marino Dela Cruz to a certain K.C. Aniceto.
But Aniceto, along with four others, managed to escape, apparently learning that there were agents in the area.
The agents seized from the house two hand grenades, a shotgun, a .38-caliber pistol, and an envelope on which names of alleged police protectors were written.
Meanwhile, an NBI official said Ricky Cadavero alias Kambal, the alleged leader of the group, was spotted in the area few days earlier, during the planning of a robbery that would have happened Wednesday in Bacoor, Cavite.
Cadavero managed to escape from the New Bilibid Prisons last December 8, along with three others.
[The Ozamis group is said to be behind numerous robberies in malls in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, including those at Alabang Town Center, Robinsons Metro East, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Novaliches, and Robinsons Dasmariñas.
